E-learning and Lectora Enablement

Prerequisites: none, other than possessing both a copy of Lectora and a desire to create great e-learning.

  • Initial planning and preparation, reviewing your proposed courses and the course development process.
  • Training workshop covering
    • Lectora fundamentals and features necessary to meet course design aims
    • Fundamentals of course design, basic understanding of learning theory and design for e-learning as distinct from classroom
    • Basic process guidelines and document templates

There is then a gap of approximately one month, so that students can apply their skills and develop prototypes. During this period we provide coaching on a 1:1 basis to advise on solutions, help solve problems and assist with good practice feedback.

This is then followed by a one-day review workshop to identify opportunities to improve the course design and production process; this will be extended to incorporate basic training on tracking and how to apply this to the prototype course materials. If required, some more advanced features can also be covered at this stage such as variables, forms and simple sequencing.

Further coaching will be provided following the second workshop, supporting the development process through to testing and deployment.

Programme outcomes:

  • Your e-learning developers become productive and competent in the development of courses using Lectora to an introductory/intermediate level.
  • Confidently use Lectora, appropriate to the needs of the organisation, and be able to explore new facilities with confidence - and with minimal support.
  • Understand and be able to apply appropriate self-paced learning theory principles.
  • Understand and be able to address the unique challenges for learners and learning styles when undertaking e-learning.
  • Utilise a standardised process for the development of e-learning self study courses to underpin efficient development and project management.
  • Be able to deploy and manage courses in your intended environment.
  • Have a template of design standards which can be applied to subsequent course designs to ensure consistency and quality.

Deliverables:

Training is provided in a workshop format with the emphasis on 'learning by doing'. We also provide coaching remotely using collaboration technology or back-to-back with workshop sessions. This enables people to learn more effectively and build confidence quickly - by providing a responsive service which allows the students to maintain momentum on their projects and discover quick answers to real-world problems.
